A Richmond pub that once faced closure has been transformed into a thriving business thanks to a £45K investment and a new Partner at the helm.
Punch Taverns’ Ship Inn in Richmond is operated by Partner, Julie Robinson, who has focused on bringing the new look pub back to the heart of the community.
Julie explains: “The pub has been in need of some TLC for quite sometime, so when Punch announced that they had plans to invest in a refurbishment, we were over the moon.”
Punch and Julie have jointly invested in the pub which has undergone some repair work including a new boiler and re-wiring along with full interior and exterior decoration such as new signage, new carpets, furnishings and a refurbished bar.
Julie continues: “The Ship has always been the local’s pub, so to create some stability now that the pub has re-opened has been fantastic. I’m from Richmond so I think the local’s know that my heart’s genuinely in it!
“It’s a two way thing – we make sure we’re delivering what the community want and in turn they support their local pub. We’ve set up a darts and dominoes team, get involved in charity activity and hold parties and even weddings here.”
Julie adds: “And the refurbishment has been really well received and is really drawing people in.”
Punch’s regional business manager, Kevin Shears, said: “We’re delighted to be able to work in partnership with Julie. She has built up a fantastic business and it really shows that she genuinely cares about the pub and its future. She has our full support in ensuring the Ship continues to sail!” |
